Overview
Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is widely regarded as the market leader for Litigation & Dispute Resolution. We are looking for an associate with two to five years of direct litigation and arbitration experience to join the Calgary office.
Our multidisciplinary Litigation & Dispute Resolution team is equipped with the skills and insights required to achieve results that matter. We work with our clients at every stage of a dispute, from fact-finding and risk-evaluation through to final resolution and enforcement. We succeed at the trial and appellate levels, in court, in arbitrations, at the negotiating table, and before tribunals and government agencies. We enjoy collaborating with each other both within the Calgary office and across the firm nationally to provide strategic counsel to our clients.
Our lawyers take a client-first approach to each unique situation. Disputes are treated first and foremost as business problems to be resolved in the most creative manner. With all the litigation advice and expertise needed under one roof, our lawyers share information, work collaboratively, and learn from each other, all within an environment that prioritizes kindness, respect, and inclusiveness. We also have an industry-leading continuing education program, and encourage involvement inside and outside of the firm, including involvement in pro bono work and community initiatives.
Associates in the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group practice in an array of areas of law that affect business and have the autonomy to pursue areas of law and industry that most interest them. These areas include Arbitration, Class Actions, Commercial Litigation, Construction and Infrastructure, Energy Litigation, Environmental Litigation, Insurance, Product Liability, Transportation, and Securities Litigation, among others. Our associates work as part of a team on larger matters, and more independently on smaller matters. They attend court and other hearings, prepare witnesses, prepare pleadings and briefs, conduct document review, and conduct questioning. They are given opportunities early in their career so that they will succeed later in their career.
We also prioritize mentorship and associate development. We have a proven track record of successfully integrating lateral hires into our busy top-tier disputes practice.
