Career Opportunities

Associate, Regulatory & Environmental

Calgary
Permanent Full-Time

Overview

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes) is widely regarded as the market leader in regulatory and environmental law. We are looking for an associate with three to six years of direct regulatory, environmental and Indigenous experience to join the Calgary office.

Our multidisciplinary Regulatory & Environmental Group has the skills and insights required to achieve results that matter. We work with our clients at every stage of the regulatory process, providing strategic advice on complex issues such as project and economic approvals, compliance and enforcement, public consultation and Indigenous engagement. We appear before provincial regulators across the country, federal regulators and in appeal and other court proceedings.

Associates in the Blakes Calgary office are given meaningful opportunities early in their careers so that they develop quickly and continue to succeed as they progress. Associates in the Regulatory & Environmental Group practice in a broad range of areas that affect the businesses we serve and have the autonomy to pursue areas of law and industry that most interest them.  Our associates have leadership roles in regulatory proceedings where they draft submissions, lead witness preparation and participate in oral hearings.  The Regulatory & Environmental Group also plays a critical role in commercial work involving regulated entities or assets, where our associates are responsible for leading due diligence, reporting on findings and preparing applications that are required to execute the transaction.

Our associates work collaboratively across practice groups within the Calgary office and nationally to provide strategic counsel to our clients.  With a wide range of specialized expertise under one roof, we share information and learn from each other, all in a work environment that prioritizes kindness, respect and inclusiveness. We also have an industry-leading continuing education program, and encourage community involvement inside and outside of the firm, including involvement in pro bono work and community initiatives. We prioritize mentorship and associate development and have a proven track record of successfully integrating lateral hires into our busy top-tier practice.
