Overview

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP (Blakes), one of Canada’s largest and most successful law firms, is currently looking for a Law Clerk to join the Corporate Services department in the Calgary Office. The ideal candidate will be personable, reliable, detail-orientated and able to manage deadlines and accurate records.  We are looking for someone who is able to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Responsibilities

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Preparing and filing annual return packages, basic resolutions and other documentation for routine corporate maintenance (e.g., change of directors/officers, trade name registrations/cancellations)
    • Filing notices and other required government forms under CORES (Level I)
    • Monitoring pending strike-offs due to non-filing of annual returns and addressing issues proactively
    • Liaising with clients to obtain outstanding documentation and forwarding incoming mail in a timely and organized manner
    • Providing corporate information to our litigation department upon request
    • Updating minute books while maintaining data integrity, team consistency and detail
    • Monitoring the department’s general email inbox and directing emails accordingly
    • Assisting law clerks with administrative and clerical tasks as needed
  • Education & Experience
    • Post secondary education in a legal assistant or law clerk program is required; a degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
    • Previous experience in a law firm or legal environment is an asset 
    • CORES Level I Accreditation or Alberta Corporate Registry accreditation
  • Skills & Abilities
